Kitchen Design Trends in New Construction

HomeBlogKitchen Design Trends in New Construction

I am currently helping 3 customers with the interior design of their new home which are under construction and at different stages during the building process. I love  helping our clients with creating furniture floor plans, lighting selections, flooring and tile selections, furniture and window treatments selection, etc., but when it comes to creating functional interior spaces, I find the most joy in designing kitchens and master bathrooms. Our  interior spaces constantly change and evolve over time with new building materials, new design styles, design trends and so forth, but kitchens in particular have changed and are changing more than any other area in our house to make it more user friendly, functional and spacious.

Technology has entered the kitchen in full force with gadgets, appliances and integrated technology which you can find from faucets  (sensory and hands free) to the fridge ( alerting you when groceries are running low) to the lighting.  Designs, materials and textures  are getting more streamlined in the overall aesthetic, more simplistic, brighter and cleaner and they are fun to work with, with so many choices available. Shelves and  The drawers are structured to leave a lot less waste of space. One of the foundations to a functional kitchen is kitchen storage. You would be left with endless frustrations and challenges with inadequate or ineffective storage. I remodeled my own kitchen three years ago and put a lot of thought into how I  use my kitchen (I love to cook) how I like to entertain (which we do a lot) and how it will make our kitchen the most functional it can be. Appliance choices of course are a huge investment and take up a nice chunk of your kitchen budget. But the right appliances  are worth it, especially if you will put them them to good use!
