Custom Wine Cellar Design Underneath a Staircase

It is always great to make use of interior space in your house that otherwise would get neglected. Staircases can provide such places that are perfect for closets, extra storage or even a wine cellar. As an interior designer and interior decorator it is fun and exciting to let your creative juices flow and to come up with new ideas, on how to furnish small spaces and get the most function out of it. I just did some custom drapery work at this home, which was a Knoxville Symphony Show House a few years ago,and the home owners still enjoy this unique space. In this case the walls were faux finished with a plaster texture to make it more reminiscent of a true cellar and something you might find in Tuscany or Napa Valley. Every nook and small space was perfectly used for wine storage and an air vent was installed as well to maintain proper temperatures. All the wrought iron pieces were custom made to fit and to give it a built-in, finished look. Small interior spaces like this one are best to be designed when either remodeling or during new construction, simply because it is easier to plan for all the electrical and air supply, as well as customizing the space for built-in units or shelving.
