Custom draperies in linen with a transitional interior design style

Recently we received a drapery referral for a more transitional and contemporary Knoxville downtown waterfront condominium. As you can see in the picture, the color pallet was a steel gray, taupe, copper and slate and the pattern and furniture style fits perfectly with the cleaner lines of the interior design and architecture. The goal – as with many of our custom window treatments – was to ad texture and color, without taking out the view or too much light. Another stunning aspect of this drapery job was the ceiling height, which allowed us to give it some more “drama” and draw the eyes up. The custom drapery rods are made out of steel with a thicker diameter in order to be proportionate with the drapery length and the volume of the interior space we were dealing with. The fabrics chosen for this job were solid 100 % linen in a copper and dark gray color, all with lining and interlining in order to be protected from the sun and to give it the extra volume and weight. A fun little design touch was to add buttons on the pinch pleated draperies. This design was fabricated with a full width and a half width as the accent color – we did the opposite color scheme and design in the adjacent guest bedroom. With some of the leftover fabrics we made small kidney pillows with cording to go on 4 chairs in the dining room/kitchen area. Not everybody always knows this, but we make all of our own draperies in our own custom drapery workroom. If you are interested to find out more about this, go to our Drapes and Bedding section.
